Questions about bus times near you
How do I find bus times near me?
Open this page and it lists the bus stops around you straight away, nearest first, with the routes that call at each one — worked out from your connection, so nothing is asked of you. Tap "Use my exact location" to narrow it to the stops actually nearest you. Open a stop for its departure board: the next buses in order, with the live time wherever the operator publishes one. No location? Enter a postcode, or search a town, road or stop name.
Are the bus times live?
Where the operator publishes live vehicle positions the board shows the expected time from the bus itself and marks it as live; where it does not, you see the timetabled time, and the board says which is which. Most large operators in England, Transport for London, Translink in Northern Ireland and Ember in Scotland publish live positions.
Do I need an app for live bus times?
No. This works in any phone browser, needs no account, and asks for your location only when you ask for stops near you — by tapping a near me button or link on this site, or Use my exact location on this page. Your position is used for that one request to find the nearby stops and is not stored. Add the page to your home screen for one-tap access.
What if my location is not working?
Your browser may be blocking location for this site. On an iPhone, tap aA in the address bar, then Website Settings, and set Location to Allow; in Chrome, tap the padlock, then Location. Or type a postcode: a full postcode finds the stops around it, and an outcode such as SL1 lists the whole area.
How it works
Open this page directly and the first list comes from your connection’s approximate position — the city or district your internet provider reports, never anything your device knows, and no permission is asked for it. Use my exact location asks your browser instead (with your permission) and finds the stops with services within about a kilometre, from the national NaPTAN stop database. Tapping a near me button or link elsewhere on this site asks straight away, with the approximate list shown while you decide. Either way your position is used for that one request and is not stored. Tap any stop for its live departure board. Postcodes are looked up with OS Code-Point Open and postcodes.io.
